Make your journey with small children and babies as stress-free as you can, when departing Glasgow Airport, with our helpful departures check list for tips and advice. It aims to eliminate any worries parents or guardians may have when travelling with small children.

Flights with young children, babies and toddlers ...

You won't be the first, or the last, to dread travelling on a plane with young children, toddlers or babies. Use this simple guide for help and advice on getting to Glasgow Airport, how you can best plan in advance for the best seats - it's all as important as taking your hand luggage and going through your luggage check list!

Plane Seats for Young Children ...

To make sure you and your family have an easiest flight as possible call your airline to check their policy for baby, toddler and young children seat allocation.

It's normal for airlines to offer their bulkhead seats - at the front of each cabin section that have facilities for your child - to families. But do check as some airlines will let you pre-book but, others work on a first come first serve basis and you don't want to miss out.

Check- in With Young Children ...

Make sure you leave home in plenty of time - add on an extra half an hour to your departure time, just to be on the safe side. This will allow for any little accidents, emergencies and toilet stops!

By leaving in plenty of time you won't be in a rush, you won't panic and this won't be picked up upon by the rest of the family.

Do you know the way to Glasgow Airport? Make sure you have packed a map, know your route, and you are aware of an alternative route in case of road works or blocks.

Flying The Easier Way With Children ...

If you pre-book your airport parking you will arrive with ease and wit valuable time for your flight departing from Glasgow Airport.

Even better, a meet and greet parking service, is the ultimate in parking at Glasgow Airport.

It's as simple as ABC - you drive straight to the airport terminal. You meet your meet and greet parking Rep. He takes your car away to a secure car park. You and your family move straight through to check-in. No remote car parks to find, no loading your family onto a transfer bus, no unloading them at the other end. When you arrive back, your car will be waiting for you right outside the airport terminal, ready for the final journey home. It's child's play really!

Here's another top tip when flying with children - when checking in ask if the flight is full. If the flight is empty ask to be seated by the empty seats so your children can spread out. They can also use these seats as make-shift beds for some sleep.

Families are asked to board first. This way you will get more assistance from the Air Hostess.

With all this in mind, by leaving yourself plenty of time, and eliminating some of the stresses of arriving at the airport you will get set for a great holiday.

Baby Essentials When Overseas - formula, food etc. ...

Purchasing Baby Foods & Water When Overseas

Take a moment to read the next section of this Travelling With Children guide - it contains very important unofficial information about drinking water for babies and small children when abroad. Also helpful unofficial information on how and where you can buy nappies, formula milk and jarred baby food. Save a bit of room in your cases and be sure to pack a certain amount of baby food and a box of milk in your suitcase - it doesn't weigh much and could be a real benefit when you first arrive. This is so you can arrive safely at your destination and get settled before rushing off out in a blind panic trying to find formula – it’s especially worth packing some pre-bottled packs of formula milk too - or jars of baby food etc.
Safe Water For Babies

It’s not advisable, due to delicate tummies, giving your baby tap water when overseas. Give your baby bottled water for drinking. For making up formula also use bottled water and boil first as you would back in the UK. When buying bottled water it’s very important to check that the water brand you are buying contains less than 30 Na of sodium. If you’re travelling to Spain many of their pharmacies sell specially distilled water for babies.
Formula Milk

Whilst formula milk is readily available in Europe you will need to go to a pharmacy to purchase it. Similar brands are available but carry a different name, Cow & Gate in Spain for instance is called Almiron. For more unofficial information about buying your particular brand of milk overseas you should call the telephone advice line on the pack of your milk packet.
Buying Jarred Baby Foods

Anyone travelling to Europe will find it easy buying baby food in jars. Hero is a very available baby food in Spain and across Europe. Hipp is also readily available as are products from Nestle. Local supermarkets, although if you are somewhere remote then try a larger main supermarket, should all stock a good selection of baby foods and snacks. As will most pharmacies.

Buying Nappies

Buying nappies abroad is very easy. Just try any local supermarket where both main brands such as Huggies and Pampers are readily available. It’s important to note that in many European Countries cotton nappies are very rare, particularly in Spain, so if you normally use re-useable nappies then you may need to consider using disposables whilst you are away.
